Done_How to Use In-App Messaging in Builder Signal
This feature allows centralized communication between Builder and Homeowner to improve collaboration during and after construction.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Log into the Builder Signal Mobile App
Log into Builder Signal using your credentials. - Open 'Messages'
From the bottom menu, click on Messages. - Start a Conversation
Select the home to which you'd like to send a message. - Send Messages
Use the Plus button (+) if you'd like to add photos and/or video to send along with your message. Type your message in the Send a Message field. When finished, click Send (the right arrow button). - Track Conversations
Every conversation is recorded in the Messages tab, allowing you to track ongoing discussions with each individual home. - Identifying New Messages
Each message is time-stamped, with the date shown to the right of the home address. New messages that have not been viewed are marked with a red circle above the time-stamp. The number indicates the number of unread messages for the home.
Common Issues:
- Homeowner Can't Send Messages?
Homeowners can only send messages if a Builder Admin has given them permission to download the Builder Signal Mobile App. See our article to invite homeowners to download the Mobile App, How to Set Up and Manage Users in Builder Signal. - App Users Not Seeing Homeowner Messages?
App Users can only send and receive messages to homes assigned to them and where the Homeowner has been granted Mobile App access. Reach out to your Builder Admin to confirm the correct Users are assigned to the home and that email addresses are accurately entered. - Are Builder Signal Messages the same as Texts, Chat or Direct Messages?
No. Builder Signal Messages are exclusively accessible within the Builder Signal Mobile App, meaning they cannot be viewed outside of the platform. Unlike traditional text messages, chat applications, or direct messaging services, Builder Signal Messages do not trigger any alerts or notifications to the Homeowner or the Builder when messages are sent or received. This ensures that all communication remains centralized within the app, allowing users to manage their conversations at their convenience without the interruption of external notifications.
Message Feature FAQs:
- Question. Who is eligible to use the Message feature?
Answer. The Messaging feature is exclusively accessible to App Users and Homeowners. Builder Admins DO NOT have access to Messaging. Any of the Additional Email Addresses configured in the Home setup process cannot be given access to the Mobile App or Messaging. - Question. What occurs if an App User sends a message to a Homeowner who: (1) hasn't been invited to access the mobile app; or (2) has been invited to the mobile app but hasn't installed it?
Answer. The message is recorded, but no further action takes place. All messages and notifications are solely within the Mobile App. There are no alerts sent to the homeowner's email address nor any information displayed on the homeowner website about in-app messages. - Question. How can a Homeowner view the Messages sent to them?
Answer. Homeowners can only view Messages if they are logged into the Builder Signal Mobile App. This is possible once they have been invited by the Builder Admin to download the app and the Homeowner is using the credentials they set up during the Activation Process. Upon logging in, Homeowners will notice a red circle next to their home's address, indicating new messages have not been read. To access their messages, the homeowner simply needs to click on their home's address.
